Laser Therapy in Inverness

What IS Deep Tissue or Laser Therapy?

Could laser therapy help you find relief from your chronic pain?

What is Deep Tissue Laser Therapy?

Not all laser therapy is created equal. Here’s what you need to know.

Deep Tissue Laser Therapy utilizes a powerful Class IV laser. This therapy is a medical treatment utilizing laser light to ‘jumpstart’ the body’s natural healing processes. This is also known as ‘Photobiomodulation’. It utilizes near infrared lasers at specific frequencies to help relieve pain and decrease swelling rapidly. It also increases the amount of blood, nutrients and oxygen being delivered to the damaged area, increasing the speed of healing as well.

How Does Deep Tissue Laser Therapy Work?

Medical professionals use this form of laser therapy to help with tissue repair and help patients find relief from chronic inflammation and pain.

The procedure begins with the use of a handheld device that is about the size of a flashlight. The device is placed directly over the injured area for anywhere between 30 seconds and a few minutes, depending on the size of the area that needs treatment.

This device emits a low-level laser that passes through the layers of the skin (approximately two to five centimeters below the skin), where it is absorbed by the cells. This light then triggers the chemical changes that help damaged tissues and cells begin to heal and regrow.

What Can Class IV Laser Therapy Help With?

Laser therapy is an excellent option for those who suffer from various conditions whose symptoms include chronic pain.

Chiropractors most often use laser therapy to help with:

  • Back pain
  • Knee Pain (check out our Knee Pain Rejuvenation System!)
  • Shoulder Pain
  • Bursitis
  • Disc Injuries
  • Sciatica
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Joint pain
  • Neck pain
  • Nerve damage
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Pain associated with muscle spams
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Reduce swelling
  • Sprains and strains
  • Tendinitis

Patients who have received this non-invasive treatment have reported feeling no pain during the procedure. They also have stated that they have seen positive results from their treatment, such as decreased pain and less inflammation.

While some do feel some immediate relief, it does take several sessions before seeing real, lasting results.
